EYA Softball FAQs

When is registration?

Registration for spring is January1st through March 1st. (Late registration through March 17)

Registration for fall is July 1st through July 31st. (Late registrtaion through August 15)

What levels of play are offered?

We offer softball for all female players ages 5 - 18.

6U (Softball Prep) is for players ages 5-6. This is basically the softball version of t-ball. We will play teams from other organizations in the surrounding are. Typically 8-12 games per season plus practices. Practices start in late March / early April depending upon field conditions. Game season begins in late April / early May and run through mid June.

8U (Softball Prep) is for players ages 6-8. This is a step up from 6u. A hitting tee is available for players that need it, but this is primarily coach pitch. We will play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Girls Softball League. Practices start in late March / early April depending upon field conditions. Game season begins in late April / early May and run through mid June.

10U Softball is for players ages 8-10. Teams will play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Girls Softball League which offers two levels of competition at this age. Division I is more competitve and strictly player pitch and has playoffs and a championship game at the end of the season. Division II is more recreational for teams with inexperienced players. The players will pitch with option for coach to step in to speed up the game. There are no playoffs or championship for this division. Practices start in late March / early April depending upon field conditions. Game season begins in late April / early May and run through mid - late June depending upon playoff run.

12U Softball is for players ages 10-12. 8-10. Teams will play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Girls Softball League which offers two levels of competition at this age. Division I is more competitve and has playoffs and a championship game at the end of the season. Division II is more recreational for teams with inexperienced players. There are no playoffs or championship for this division. Practices start in late March / early April depending upon field conditions. Game season begins in late April / early May and run through mid - late June depending upon playoff run.

14U Softball is for players ages 12-14. Teams will play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Girls Softball League. At this age level all standard softball rules are used during games. Partial team practices may start in late March/ early April. At this level some players may be playing for their respective schools who may not allow players to actively practice with another team during their seasons. Full practices begin at the close of the shcool season and games begin in late May / early June and run through mid July depending upon playoff run. 

18U Softball is for players ages 15 and above. Teams will play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Girls Softball League. At this age level all standard softball rules are used during games. At this level some players may be playing for their respective schools who may not allow players to actively practice with another team during their seasons. Full practices begin at the close of the shcool season and games begin in late May / early June and run through mid July depending upon playoff run. 

What does the schedule look like?

The season will begin with practices in late March/early April depending upon weather and field conditions. Game schedules depend upon age level (see above for specific dates). Practices vary depending on the coach's availability and field availabiltiy, but typically occur twice during the week and once over the weekend. Game schedules vary also and can be played both on weeknights and weekends. 


What equipment is needed?

The EYA supplies each player with a Jersey, Pants, Belt, Visor and Socks. There are team bats, helmets, and catchers gear available for players to share. 

You will need to supply Glove and Cleats. (Although recommended, cleats are not a requirement for 6U)

Additional suggested equipment: Fielding Facemask, Sliding shorts and/or knee pad,  Sunglasses, Batting Helmet with face mask, bat, and Catchers Gear (if this is a position that your child wants to play).
